looking for a job after studying from Australian universities will now need
minimum two years of work experience.

For companies looking to
hire overseas workers, it will cost more as the new rules suggest that
sponsoring firms have to contribute to a skilling fund.
3. The 457 visa category was most popular with Indians. There were
about 90,000 such visa holders in Australia and Indians accounted for close to
22%.

Although these final rules haven’t been officially announced,
they are aimed at ensuring local residents are given preference for job
vacancies.

It was reported that the new rules have been in works for
several months now. An updated list of rules for skilled visas for issued in
January and another list is expected soon.
